Grapes are delicious and besides being a healthy snack, they can be used in a large variety of salads, deserts or smoothies. Grapes are also very easy to store for longer periods of time.
Store grapes in the fridge
If you use them as an ingredient for salads or smoothies for example, you can store a bunch in a vacuum container in the fridge. They will stay fresh for several weeks under one condition: don’t wash them before storing. The excess moisture can hasten decay and allow bacteria to affect the taste and color. By storing them in a Vacuvita vacuum container the grapes are protected from all outside influences such as moisture and light.
How to freeze grapes
Frozen grapes can be great as well. When you properly freeze grapes, they can be stored for more than a year. However, they will change in structure as the ice crystals in the grapes will damage the cells a bit. This is only a problem if your recipe calls for fresh grapes. The best way to eat a frozen grape is to keep it frozen. They are delicious with some vanilla ice cream or just as a frozen snack on a warm summer day. If your blender is able to crush ice, you can put frozen grapes in directly from the freezer if you are making a smoothie, cooling it down as an added bonus.
If you want to freeze them, you can do so in a container, but for real long-term storage it is best to freeze them in a container for over an hour and then transfer them to a Vacuvita freezer bag and divide them evenly over the bag before removing the air. Contrary to storing grapes in the fridge, it is best to remove all the stems and wash them before you freeze them.
